Background
Created in 2025 by a collection of people working with Motif Magazine, the non-profit is meant to champion artistic communities that are often overlooked or under appreciated by the mainstream.
For 20 years, Motif has been holding events, award shows and celebrations to this end. The communities have often been very appreciative, but these events have been held without public, state or locality support, and they generally do not generate enough funds to cover their expenses, even though they help countless local artists.
Consultations with multiple leading foundations and grantors indicated that, as a non-profit, there would be an opportunity to bring public support to bear on these efforts that simply could not be accessed through a for-profit entity. Similarly, individuals and foundations that would like to support these endeavors would be more supportive if they were being held by a certified non-profit.
